Why is My Baby Crying?

Well, this is by far the most common question asked by new parents. Most of those parents are thrown into daze when their babies cry and cannot determine why their newly born infants are crying, except after many unsuccessful attempts to pacify those babies.

A neonate, who is a baby younger than 1 month, could cry for a variable number of reasons. These would include hunger, a wet diaper, colic, pain and many others. Then, how would you determine the cause of your baby's crying?

The first thing you should check is the diaper. A wet diaper equals a crying infant. Remember to clean carefully with soap and water. Any unwashed stool particles would irritate the baby and make him cry, also it might cause infection. Always check the diaper area for areas of redness or rash which could mean inflammation or infection. Infants with diaper area inflammation cry a lot, so ask for doctor's advice if you suspect any.

Secondly, try feeding the baby. New born infants have a unique reflex known as the suckling reflex. This reflex enables your baby to suckle involuntarily, when the nipple of the breast or the bottle are introduced inside the mouth. If the baby is hungry, he/she will suckle, swallow, pause and repeats this to continue feeding. However, if the baby is crying due to colic, after suckling for a few seconds he would rather stop suckling and continue to cry. During a period of colic, the infant usually cries loudly while alternating bending and extending his knees over his belly. If the baby suckles during colic, this increases the motion of his intestines and eventually increases the pain so the baby's crying will worsen. So, if your baby refuses to feed and continues to cry he is rather having colic, so you should ask your doctor for help.

Older neonates would sometimes cry, because they are seeking emotional support i.e. they need to be carried, talked to, etc. Infants are born with excellent hearing apart from the under developed vision which continue to develop in the first few weeks of their life. So talking to your baby, while carrying him/her against your chest sometimes soothes and stops the crying.

It is always important to point that normal babies cry, however sick babies might cry much more or they might not cry at all. I mean that crying is one of the signs of healthiness of your newcomer. Pain, irritability, trauma might be causes of a crying infant. Hence, always be wise and don't let your baby's loud screams lead you away from rational thinking.

Why is it Necessary to Opt For Venue Hire to Make an Event Memorable?

Whether you want to give a last minute surprise party to some friend, planning for a coming Christmas, or a wedding party, you can make these events memorable by hiring a venue for your events. You can certainly make your next event joyful and exciting if you opt for a venue hire to this event, as you get all those facilities there, which are reckoned essential to make an event memorable.

Throwing a party in a hotel or a bar is quite conventional and most among your guests must have already attended hundreds of parties at such venues before, and there is nothing new for them in such parties. Contrarily, if you hire a private venue for your event and try to provide something different to your guests, it can really give a change to your guests and make them remember your event for long. Hiring a private venue for your event wouldn't allow your guests to say that it's the same place where they have already attended two or three parties before. Your guests will remember you if you offer them something different.

You need to plan and explore different venues to make things really exciting and joyful. You need to locate such places for these events, as you never visited before. No doubt about it, that your options are limitless in this connection and you just need to explore them.

You have an option of arranging your party in a different town or a city. You can explore a venue that you never visited before and thus you can give a new sort of enjoyment and pleasure to your guests.

Whatever venue you decide for your party or event, you must keep this fact in mind that your guest will remember your event only if, you give them something different and entertain them in a different way. Whether it's about music or some other sort of entertaining stuff, you must try to provide them maximum delight and enjoyment.

If you arrange your party in a bar or restaurants, you must bear in mind that different people have different choices in this connection, and often it happens that the bar or restaurant liked by some is disliked by others, and it is rare that everyone wants to go at the same bar or restaurant.

Contrarily, if you hire such a venue for your party that most of your guests haven't visited before, they would like to come to that venue. You can best entertain them by offering their desired food, music, drinks, and other such stuff. All these things can make your guests remember you for long and thus make your event memorable.

These days, a large number of businesses like to hire private cinema viewings for their corporate events. This private cinema viewing is indeed a nice option to entertain your guest in a different way and make your business partners or staff members remember you for long because of this party.

Causes of New Born Baby Gas

Gas is painful and it is especially painful in babies.

The painful truth about new born baby gas is that statistically speaking, half of all newborns will develop painful gas within the first two months of birth. There are many causes for gas. It is thought that some of it may be caused by digestive system that is not fully matured at birth. However, the more likely causes are not medically induced reasons.

First, you need to be able to decipher what your baby's cries mean.

Crying is the only way a baby has to communicate their discomfort to us. A baby with gas pain will cry almost inconsolably. They will also pull up their legs or attempt to lay in a curled position to get rid of the pain. Not every bout of gas is serious and many can pass easily and without much fussing. It is at this time that the parents must educate themselves on how to prevent new born baby gas from happening again.

It is very difficult and frustrating to watch baby have to endure that painful condition and they will not have to if parents are able to do everything they can to prevent it. Barring any serious medical conditions, there are many ways that parents can help to keep gas pains from returning.

Everybody knows that they should feed baby in an upright position and not lying down. Everybody also knows that frequent burping throughout the feedings will help to diminish buildup of gas. What parents may not know is that there are special bottles that can be used that do not allow air to get into them so that baby is not swallowing that along with their milk causing new born baby gas. These bottles can be found at any retailer and really do not cost much more than regular bottles.

Even with the increased price, knowing that you are helping to prevent painful conditions in baby is worth it.It can be frustrating when baby is experiencing painful gas because it can take some time for the condition to pass. Doing some things to help prevent in the first place will make for a happy baby that will grow and thrive. If there is a reason that baby continues to experience new born baby gas, there are some over the counter medications that can be purchased to help. Speaking with the doctor will also ease the mind of the parents when they realize that this is a common problem but that in most cases it can be remedied.

How to Make Gel Candles Easily

One of the newest candle making materials to work with these days is gel. This revolutionary material will change up your process just a little bit. Gel wax also gives you a chance to really get creative with your candles by placing decorations inside of them. High density gel is of a thick enough consistency that it can hold up suspended decorations inside the candle.

Gel candles are perfect for scented candles. Gel wax comes in low, medium, and high densities. The higher the density of the gel, the more fragrance it will hold. You'll need a half ounce per pound if you use low density gel, .8 ounce per pound for medium density, and one ounce per pound for high density gel.

The process to make gel candles is just a little different than it is to make wax candles. Just use a multi-cooker instead of a double boiler.

  1. Melt the gel wax in the multi-cooker, stirring it often with a metal or plastic stirrer.
  2. Check the temperature of the gel often, and heat it to 180 - 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Just remember that gel wax takes longer to melt than conventional wax.
  3. Take the gel off the heat and add dye, if desired. Use just a small amount of liquid candle dye. Only the smallest drop will probably be enough.
  4. This is also the time to add fragrance. Remember, the amount of fragrance oil you add depends on whether you used low, medium, or high density gel.
  5. If you wish to use decorations inside your gel candle, place them into your mold before you pour the gel into it. Also don't forget to place the wick at this time.
  6. Let the gel cool before you remove it from the mold.

How a Co-Sleeper Bassinet Makes Your Life Easier

It takes a lot of time to care for a newborn baby. Loving mothers shower their babies with their attention and compassion. If you would like to increase your bonding time with your little bundle of joy and would like to save some time during those fateful middle-of-the-night feedings, a co-sleeper bassinet is for you.

Bottle-fed and breastfed infants alike can benefit from sleeping in a co-sleeper. This type of baby bassinet attaches to a mother's bed, thus enabling her easy access to your child for easy, fast feedings. A co-sleeper also provides a newborn baby with the security he needs to get acclimated to his new environment since he can easily see where his mommy sleeps.

A cranky child can be soothed by the touch of his mother, who wouldn't even have to leave her bed. Delivery is a physically exhausting experience; therefore, every moment of rest counts. With a co-sleeper, a mother possibly can get more rest than she would have if her baby were in a traditional baby bassinet because she would not have to move much to calm her newborn.

I always had the fear of rolling on my infant daughter during sleep, so she spent no nights in her parents' bed. A co-sleeper promotes a safe sleeping area for your child, one that seems to be better than mommy and daddy's big bed. Even when a baby is placed between his parents, I still fear he would somehow land on the floor, which could cause heartache and major injuries.

Too, certified organic co-sleeping products are available. Those who are planning on a green nursery can pick up an organic co-sleeper bassinet mattress. This pricey mattress is made from certified organic cotton and other natural products.

How to Choose the Right Christmas Tree Decorations

In the last decade, Xmas has become extremely commercialised, and with this the number of Christmas and Christmas tree decorations has dramatically increased on the market. Xmas tree decorating should be fun, but with such a huge choice, it can be somewhat vexing.

There are many decoration retailers in the United Kingdom, both on the high street and on the internet, and if you are lost as to what Christmas tree decorations to buy, you may be better doing research and buying online. You will feel more relaxed and therefore less overwhelmed browsing from the comfort of your own home, and many online sites are easily navigable, with decorations listed in helpful subsections. Many sites also give practical hints and tips on how to decorate your home at Christmas.

There are many types of Christmas tree ornament on the market today - as well as the usual baubles, tinsel and lights, there are strings of beads; bows in all sizes, textures and colours; crackers; chocolates; tree toppers and lametta, to name but a few. These all have the potential to enrich your tree and your home considerably during the festive season. In fact, there are so many different types of Xmas tree decoration, it is impossible to fit them all on the tree!

The conception when decorating your Christmas tree is to select the ornaments carefully. A tree that has a clear decorative theme and colour scheme looks very attractive and effective, whilst a tree that has many decorations of different colours plonked on its branches can look overwhelmingly overdressed. Things to think about before choosing a decorative theme for your Christmas tree include whether you want to go with traditional or contemporary, and colours you would like to use - this may or may not be dictated by the latest trends or the d閏or in your home. Once you have thought about this, choosing your tree decorations should become a whole lot easier.

For a really unique Christmas tree, why not consider making your own tree decorations? Children and grandchildren can join in on the fun, and almost anything can be used to make tree decorations: eggshells; egg boxes; card; paper; glitter; paint; cotton wool - let your imagination run away with you as you make special decorations for your tree. If you need inspiration, there are many online craft sites giving useful advice for tree decorations - why not check them out? Handmade tree decorations are not only unique and eco-friendly; they also provide a sense of sentimentality, especially if made by little ones.

If you like the idea of eco-friendly tree ornaments but do not have the time or motivation to make your own, there are retailers who sell such decorations. For example, browsing on the internet you can find online store that sells Christmas tree ornaments made from recycled circuit boards and CD's. Not only do these look funky and unique, they are saving the environment - don't forget your low energy lights!

You Are Your Child's Role Model?

As I write this article, I am going to discuss the behavior of your child when he or she becomes frustrated. This frustration can be because of a lost toy, not wanting to eat or anything else. I am going to tell you what you should do during this time and why you should do it. If you find that your child gets frustrated a lot, then I highly recommend you reading this article. Remember, as you are reading this article, no matter what you believe, you are the child's role model. That child is looking up to you at all times, even during frustrated moments.

When a child is very frustrated and starts to lose their cool, the most important thing you will need to do in this case would be to stay calm. During this time, your child will be in a frustrated moment and have a problem that they do not know how to solve. If you start to lose your cool, then you will be in the same frustrated moment that you do not know how to solve.

Sure, the child may be going through a difficult problem and he or she does not know how to ask for what they want. You are out of control and you do not know how to calm down. If you would like to calm them down during that frustrating moment, you will need to be calm.

The faster you calm down, the quicker the child will be following your lead. You see, it's all about modeling.

Children who grow up with parents that are calm will be more likely to know how to deal with frustrating moments However, for those children that go through life with parents who do not know how to deal with children who are frustrated and become frustrated themselves, the children will copy them.

How to Look Amazing While Pregnant - I Was Hesitant to Share a Secret That Set Me Apart From Others

If you want to learn how to look amazing while pregnant then read on to know exactly how. Looking great is linked to your mind and how you think of yourself. How to get your mind to think sexy should be your question.

This is what you do to start to think sexy:

  • Do something you know will make you feel better about yourself. When you see yourself wallowing in your own misery snap out of it by doing something that will always make you feel good.
I'll give you a story, one time me and my friend went out to the mall for a girls night out. I usually think really highly of the way I look, but for some reason I started doubting that the moment I saw all those people in the mall. I felt lost and undesirable, I felt like I could not capture any mans attention not even for a second.

I decided to go to one of those shops I really liked instead of feeling sad. And that is when everything changed. I went inside the dressing room and tried a dress on, and it looked fabulous on me, that shifted my mood and i felt more empowered. The moment I got dressed again and got out of the dressing room I was a changed person, I was more confident and assured and cared less about what anyone thought.

Guess what happened? well my friend kept asking me "what did you do in there?" she said that my face looked nicer and wanted to know what I did. when I told her I just tried on a dress, she didn't believe me, she kept asking and persisting through the whole night. The only thing that shut her up was when I said I applied makeup in the dressing room, which was a lie.

I also got a lot of attention from the men, every time I passed by they couldn't help but turn their heads and stare. My friend noticed the stares and attention the males were given me. And that is why she didn't believe me when I said the truth. This is what happens when I took a few minutes to do something that regained my confidence.

So the lesson is to do something that makes you feel good about yourself and see the difference it will make in your appearance

Easter: Christian Belief in the Resurrection

Though originally a pagan ceremony, the Easter story is now at the heart of Christianity, and the date of Easter changes each year. Several other Christian festivals are dated according to the reference date of Easter. Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It抯 the most important of all Christian festivals, and the one celebrated with the greatest joy.

Sentenced to death, on Good Friday, Jesus Christ was hanged upon a cross, between two convicted thieves, and upon the wooden cross, he died. His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave. The tomb was guarded, and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no one could steal his body.

On the Sunday following his crucifixion and death, some women visited the grave, and found that the stone had been moved, and that the tomb was empty. Jesus himself was seen that day, and for days afterwards by many people. His followers realized that God had raised Jesus from the dead.

On Easter, Churches are filled with flowers, and there are special hymns and songs, but not all Easter customs are Christian. Customs like the Easter Bunny are Pagan in origin. In ancient times, the Saxons celebrated the return of spring with a festival honoring their goddess of offspring and of springtime, Easter. When the second-century Christian missionaries encountered the tribes of the north with their pagan celebrations, they converted them to Christianity, in a secretive and round about manner. It would have been suicide for the very early Christian converts to celebrate their holy days in ways that didn抰 coincide with celebrations that already existed. To save lives, the missionaries spread their religious messages slowly throughout the populations by allowing them to continue to celebrate pagan feasts, but doing so in a Christian manner.

Coincidentally, the pagan festival of Easter occurred at the same time of year as the Christian observance of the Resurrection of Christ. Because of that, it made sense, to alter the festival to make it a Christian celebration, as converts were slowly won over. The early name, Eastre, was eventually changed to its modern spelling, Easter.

Cool Pacifiers - A Great Gift For a Baby Shower

If you're at a little bit of a loss for what to get for a baby shower gift for that expectant mother, why not get her an ultra-cool pacifier for her upcoming newborn? Most babies use pacifiers, at least for a little while, so it's likely that she would be planning on letting her baby use one, and you can get one that says something great like 'my mom rocks,' or 'mute button.' You can also get one with a cheery little skull on it, and they come in different colors, so you have options whether it's a boy or girl - or even if you don't know for sure.
?br>No matter what kind of parent a person is or will be, it's hard to resist the allure of a pacifier to quiet a squalling baby in the middle of the night or to keep your child quiet when you're out at a restaurant trying to have a great dinner without upsetting others around you. Cool pacifiers get attention and comments, and the best thing about them is that they are also safe for your baby. They don't contain any lead or anything else that might harm your little one, so you can feel comfortable using them without worry.
?br>Get as many as you like and give them out as baby shower gifts to all of your friends and family members who are having children. They're cute, they're functional, and they're different, because they aren't the same standard pacifiers that you can buy at most of your chain retail stores. There's nothing wrong with the normal pacifiers, but they might not be as creative and unique as what you're looking for. If that's the case, make sure that you take a look for cool pacifiers so that you can offer something different as a baby shower gift.
?br>If it's you (or your significant other) that's pregnant, you might want to take a look at these pacifiers, too. They're a great choice, they're inexpensive, and they're safe for your baby. They'll last a long time, too, because they're good quality, so you won't have to worry about replacing them all the time. That's great news for someone who's on a budget, already has a lot of b! aby expe nses, and yet still wants to have a cool pacifier for their new arrival. Just because you're a mom (or a dad) doesn't mean that you can't be hip and trendy.

Insemination and Herbal Medication

If a woman is not able to get pregnant through natural insemination, she may use traditional infertility treatments, such as the use of fertility drugs, IVF and artificial insemination. Insemination is the introduction of sperm into the female uterus during sexual intercourse. Insemination which takes place through sexual intercourse is known as natural insemination or NI. Insemination which takes place without sexual intercourse is known as artificial insemination or AI.

Alternatively, she may try use Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and herb treatment. If you want to start TCM for infertility treatments, the best thing to do first, is to consult with your doctor. Your doctor may determine that the infertility stems from a structural problem, such as block Fallopian tubes, and then TCM is not an option.

Do remember that your doctor may not have the required training to promote Herbal Medications. This means you may wish to consult with your regular doctor, in conjunction with a doctor trained in TCM. Do disclose your decision to do so with your doctor to ensure that he/she has full access to your medical history. You do not want to pursue a traditional and an alternative medical treatment for infertility simultaneously, unless you provide full disclosure of what drugs you are taking, etc. to both doctors.

TCM has been used for thousands of years to help women regulate menstruation and ovulation, and restore egg quality. Many women would suggest that TCM contributed to them having successful and healthy pregnancies.

TCM, which is based on a mix of Herbal Medications and acupuncture, has proven effective in some cases in restoring body disharmony, which causes infertility. Herbal Medications are medications prepared from plants and plant extracts, and which sometimes include bee and fungal products, as well as minerals. Numerous clinical trials have shown that some Herbal Medications are both safe and effective.

One of the premises behind Herbal Medications is that they may assist in the elimination of any bad habits that could be causing infertility. A good diet and nutritional supplements enhance your chance of conception. The very first thing you should do is to eliminate caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco from your diet, and ensure you are eating healthy, balanced meals. Consider adding vitamins A, C and E, folic acid, selenium, fatty acids, and zinc to your daily diet. You can get these if you are taking prenatal vitamins. Men should look into taking L-Carnitine tablets, which are an amino acid that helps the body to produce good quality sperm, help increase the sperm count and also to give the sperm greater motility. Herbs to curb stress and anxiety and this can contribute to a successful pregnancy.

Any individual using herbal medicines should take the same care as with prescription medicines, to avoid overdose, interactions with other medications, and misuse. It is also important to continue with Western medical treatments to ensure all avenues for infertility treatment are explored.

TCM have attracted growing attention, especially as some ART treatments, and particularly the more invasive ones, cause some controversy.

Acupuncture and Infertility Treatments - Is it For You?

It is extremely complicated to answer whether a particular female or male infertility treatment is going to be successful for you. As you know, everyone is unique and because one particular type of infertility treatment may work for one person, it does not imply that it will work for everyone.

Your results may be different and you should keep this in mind as you travel through the maze of test and procedures to find the best course of action for you follow. Always hope for the best and understand that it may take some time before you are able to conceive.

Positive thinking and living a healthy lifestyle are important ingredients to improving your odds for having a baby.

If avoiding invasive medical treatments is on your wish list, then you will want to conduct research to investigate alternative infertility treatments like acupuncture, herbal supplements and remedies. Acupuncture is also becoming a major contributor with in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments, as patients benefit from its use.

Does Acupuncture Work?

This is an option that you may find interesting. Acupuncture infertility treatments are rapidly gaining recognition, as it demonstrates its ability to help couples conceive time after time. Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine that works by using fine needles placed into specific points all over the body.

Acupuncture is frequently useful for couples who have previously tried conservative treatments for infertility with no luck or for those who wish to avoid the conventional methods all together.

The acupuncture infertility treatment is only possible for good applicants, which would include people who have a functional rather than structural reason for infertility. It's becoming more and more prevalent for doctors to suggest for their patients to undertake acupuncture infertility treatments as well as conventional treatments if they would like to achieve the greatest results.

Regardless to which option you elect to pursue, the most important aspect for you to pay close attention to is your partners well being. The positive sense of security and positive belief is an advantage for anyone desiring to overcome infertility and have a child of their own.

The importance of a positive environment is critical to your success because doctors agree that your emotional well being has an effect on your body and its functions. Use your positive attitude to your advantage and help remove any unnecessary stress from your life as you are trying to conceive.

Of course this is easy to say and very difficult to control as your emotions tend to sway with every piece of new information you find when you have placed a high value on getting positive results. Acupuncture can very well help relieve some of the stress caused by the desire to conceive.

Take control of your actions; be happy and cheerful with each passing moment as you continue your efforts to have a child. There may be times of sadness as you see others with their kids, but move forward with your hopes and dreams of having a child of your own.

Carefully evaluate your options and share your love with your partner and every child you meet. Your sharing and caring will add value, joy and peace as you progress toward having your precious baby.

Bringing Your New Baby Home From the Hospital

New parents are often very excited to bring their new bundle of joy home from the hospital. It is a joyous experience that can sometimes be scary. Will you remember what you will need to bring to the hospital? Will you have everything you need at home? The following paragraphs will provide you with the information you need to know about bringing your new baby home from the hospital.

An infant car seat is a necessity. If you do not have the proper type of car seat to put your new baby in, hospital officials will not allow you to leave with your new little bundle. A nurse will most often escort you to your car and assist you if you need help properly strapping your baby in. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your car seat or how to safely strap baby in, the nurse will be glad to answer any questions or address any concerns.

When you pack your bag for the hospital, you must remember to pack an outfit for the baby, as well as a couple of baby blankets. While the hospital will provide the necessities like formula and diapers, you will not be permitted to keep the t-shirts they put your baby in, nor will you be allowed to take the baby blankets. This is a relatively new rule, so just be sure to have an extra outfit and a blanket or two in your bags you pack for your hospital stay.

At home, you will likely want to have a bassinet for the baby to sleep in the first few months of his life. A lot of new parents feel more comfortable when their new baby sleeps in the same room as them. A bassinet makes this possible without having to find extra room to fit in a crib. If you have a bassinet, your baby can sleep comfortably in your room until you are ready for the baby to sleep in the nursery in his crib.

Bringing your baby home from the hospital will likely be one of the more memorable day of your life. It does not have to be frightful. As long as you have the information you need, bringing your new baby home will be nothing but joyous and memorable.

The ABC's of Event Lighting

The visual senses are perhaps the strongest in the human experience. As such, it is no surprise that powerful lighting elicits powerful emotional responses. Because you cannot touch or feel it, people often do not understand or comprehend why they should make sure lighting is a key component to their event. Lighting is the single most powerful element in transforming a space from drab to amazing. A good lighting provider examines the complete experience and design lighting for every theme. They usually do this based on the client's goals for the event. Party lighting is different than wedding lighting, which is different than themed prop lighting. It all depends on what kind of effect you want to create with the lighting.

The largest component of creating great wedding lighting, or any other Event Lighting, is to turn down the ambient lighting of the event space to 20 to 30% of its normal luminosity. A dark room, then allows a pallet for the lighting designer. Particularly, if there are lighter walls for uplights. Each individual element can then be lit up and your event becomes romantic, exciting, and dynamic. Every item you brought to it also gets noticed. The Bar will be aglow in a blue huge for instance. The buffet may be washed in a warm glow. If it is a wedding, the cake will be a shimmering star of the event, and everyone will see the well lit wedding gift table. If it is a corporate event, any item of focus will also be showcased.

By dimming down the main lighting, you will have a greater overall impact on the areas you are highlighting. The colors will be more saturated, and the items you want to highlight will show up while some of the less attractive elements will be hidden.

Dynamic and well placed event lighting will make or break your event. However, remember to set aside a decent budget for the event lighting. Labor is the number one cost in Event Lighting. In terms of other costs to be aware of, you should look carefully at the venue's power availability before designing your lighting. If your lighting requests are too grand, the venue may not have power to support it, in which case you can either reduce your lighting load on the circuits or bring in a generator. You can rent a whisper quiet generator for around $800 per day for a 25kw, which is a good number to have if lighting a larger ballroom and using a fair amount of power. Other concerns are load in and out times. It is easy to not consider the intense labor involved in lighting. Usually, a request for 6 hours to load in, and a minimum of 2 hours to load out is made. If you are willing to pay a premium, additional staff may always be hired for a faster load in. Additionally, if you limit your lighting fixtures, you can get lighting done in a faster set up time.

Baby Crying Driving You Crazy?

Do you think you are going insane with your babies crying? Good news, most babies cry the most during their first three months of life. So you could be on your way down the hill very soon. This might scare you but a baby's "normal" crying could last from an hour to all day!!

Babies have the ability to shut off all noise that they can hear so that they can sleep but this only last for the first six weeks. The babies ability to shut out noise weakens after about six weeks making it more prone to waking such as noise, movements, etc. When the baby is awaken the only thing it can do is cry.

Your baby could be crying for any number of reasons. The most common reason for a babies crying is hunger, especially during the first few months of life.

Is your baby bored? You would be bored laying in a car-seat all day. They are crying for attention. Your friends may say you are spoiling your child and giving them negative reinforcement by picking them up when they are crying but babies need a lot of attention when they are small.

Is your baby in discomfort or pain? Crying is the only way that the baby can tell you that something is wrong. Face it, when we as adults are in a lot of pain, we cry. Our tolerance level has grown though. Your baby is trying to get your attention to let you know something is wrong and for you to fix it. There will be different sounds to your babies crying. You will eventually learn what each cry means. A screaming cry is known that a baby is in pain. A howling cry is thought to mean that the baby is bored.

Not to worry if you feel like you are going to lose your mind during your child crying stage. It will soon pass. You could help feel comfort by talking to other mothers and see what they are going through. Log on to a forum and read other mothers questions and stories. This could help you feel much better that you are not alone and that there are other mothers out there that are going through the exact same thing as you are. Get together with other moms and see what they are going through. It will probably make you feel better.

Fundamentals of Child Proofing

Prevention is better than cure, says the adage. It is based on this principle that we get the children inoculated against many diseases. It is equally important on the part of the parents to employ means to prevent a child getting injured within the house itself. There are various ways in which they can manage it.

Any sharp corner, be it on a table, a toy, or a tool, is dangerous to a child because pointed objects can cause deeper injuries in a child than in an adult. Any such projecting points within a house should be covered with corner guards or cushions. Another necessary child proofing is keeping all potentially dangerous things like medicines, lotions, chemicals, and cleaning agents firmly locked. The doors of the cabinets, in which they are kept, should be secured by child safety locks. In lower drawers and shelves, the child's toys can be stored, so that he can get all the joy of exploring and pulling things without hurting himself.

Varieties of Safety Mechanisms

Next in the list of things to which a child should be denied access are electrical outlets. If you get the chance to design and build your own house, the best thing to do is have plug points at a height where only adults can access it. Since that choice will not always be there, use plastic covers to cover the electrical points. Different types of covers are available and it is important to check the quality of these covers since many children can be clever enough to pry open flimsier ones.

Child proofing by child safety gates is important in restricting the kiddies' entry to unsafe areas. Of the two types of gates that are available, gates that can be screwed to the walls offer better protection. For both types of gates, quality is assured if they have a JPMA seal on it. With regard to windows, besides the window screen, there should be a safety net on a window, or a guard that prevents the window from opening out in full.

Child Proofing Needs Are Endless

Other baby risks are breakable objects on a table, especially those on smaller tables. Electrical cords, curtain cords, leaves of potted plants, are all a baby's enemies in one form or other. He may pull at it, bite it, chew it, or entangle it with some other thing inside the room. The same goes for knobs, handles, or buttons that he can reach.

While all these are bad enough, water is an elephantine problem. Leave alone a swimming pool or a bathtub, even half a bucket of water is dangerous for a child. And bathing water temperature should never be above 120o. Proper lighting inside the home is also mandatory. In the room in which the baby is sleeping, there should be a low watt night light so that the child does not become frightened or disoriented when he wakes up.

These various child proofing measures may not be fail safe methods for preventing injuries to a child. But they do alleviate the level of risk and you can add more safety measures by observing the child. The availability of child safety equipments in the market is increasing in leaps and bounds. That will also help a lot.

House Plant Pests and Diseases - Part 1

More and more people are discovering that growing indoor plants is a very satisfying and rewarding hobby. And because the homes in which we now live are lighter, warmer and more or less drought free, than they used to be, there is less chance of house plants suffering from dramatic changes in temperature throughout the course of the day, or night. So a whole new range of indoor plants from across the world can now be successfully grown indoors.

This article focuses on common pests and diseases found on indoor plants.

Ants are not necessarily harmful themselves, but they can carry aphids to the softer parts of the plant. Ants are attracted to the honeydew deposited by green fly and can carry these pests from plant to plant. Your local garden centre will have a pesticide in dust form, to control ants on house plants.
Aphid or greenfly is a familiar garden pest that can move indoors. These attack the plant by sucking sap from it and depositing sticky honeydew, which in turn can attract fungus. Leaves, stems and flowers may appear distorted. The aphid's are not only green, but can also be grey, black or yellow. As soon as you spot this pest spray the plant with pyrethrum or permethrin. If neither of these can be obtained quickly, then use soapy water and repeat spray regularly. Also soak the soil with any of the above. Remove and discard distorted growths.

Leaf Miners often attack Chrysanthemums and Cinerarias by tunnelling through leaves. They leave tell-tale wandering narrow lines, or 'mines' and the grubs can usually be spotted if the leaves are examined closely. Remove any affected leaves and spray the plant with a pesticide suitable for grubs.

Mealy Bugs. These are little oval bugs, covered with a white fluffy substance, they are usually found under leaves or on leaf joints. Almost any plant can be attacked causing the plant to wilt and leaves to yellow. Pick of all the bugs that you can with a tooth pick, any nests can be wiped away with soft cotton wool or a fine paintbrush soaked with methylated spirits. Spray all top growth with a suitable pesticide and examine plants regularly for reinfestation.

Red Spider Mites. Distorted and dry looking leaves are a common sign that these tiny mites are present. Look under the leaves for a fine white web. The red or pink pests are difficult to see without a magnifying glass. Prompt action is needed to stop the infestation from spreading. Badly affected leaves should be cut away, then spray the plant with a liquid derris. Repeat after 5 days and again after 10 days.

Scale Insects. These creatures are a yellowish brown colour and can be difficult to detect. They cling to the underside of leaves and are covered with a hard waxy cover. They suck sap from the plant causing it to wither. They also secrete honeydew which in turn can attract ants. Remove by scraping with a tooth pick or the top of a biro pen. Then wash the leaves with soapy water and apply a pesticide.

Thrips or thunder flies suck sap from soft foliage. They move about by jumping and leave black dots on the leaves or white spots on flowers. Remove damaged foliage and spray with liquid derris or suitable pesticide.

Part two covers Weevils, White Flies and Worms, and includes common house plant diseases.

Book Club Dinner Idea - Host a Mystery Dinner For a Mystery Novel

My fellow book club members really get into the mood of each novel for our meetings. Each host creates a dinner that derives in some way from the book. When it was my turn to host the month when we read One For the Money by Janet Evanovich, I knew right away that I wanted to host a mystery dinner to keep my book club friends in suspense.

It's no mystery why a mystery dinner is a fun idea for a special group event. People love surprises, unusual events, and things that make them laugh. You can create a mystery dinner for your book club. This article explains what a mystery dinner is and how to create one successfully.

A mystery dinner is a multi-course dinner that is served according to the selections each guest makes for each course. Each item-the entré–', other food items, silverware, and a napkin--are given different names that do not reveal their identity. Each guest selects from a menu a certain number of items for each "course" of the meal. The fun comes in when each course is served. Some of the combinations are hilarious.

For my Evanovich dinner I served the following: plums, celery & carrot sticks, salad with artichokes, bread, a fork, a spoon, water, stuffed pasta shells, meatballs, a napkin, cannoli for dessert, and a toothpick. I made a "menu" ahead of time on the computer with story-related names for each item. Each woman received a menu list and was asked to write a 1, 2, or 3 in front of each item, having four of each number for each course. It's important to make sure each guest writes her name at the top of her menu.

To give you an idea of how to name items on the menu related to a book, for this book, the names of the items were as follows: Plum Delightful, Handcuffs in the Shower, Nova (Not Lox), Spandex Stretcher, Smith and Wesson, FAA (Fugitive Apprehension Agent), Grandma Mazur's Madness, Ranger's Rover, Ziggy's Zag, Morelli's Mix, Benito's Busted, and New Jersey Special. I took pity on my guests and let them have wine from the start and not as a menu item.

Two of us working in the kitchen had the master list that showed what item matched each name. Plates were assembled for each person for each course. Howls of laughter and sighs of despair erupted as really odd combinations were presented such as saucy stuffed pasta shells with no utensils, no napkin, and just carrot and celery sticks-which presumably could be used to eat the pasta. Another sorry combination might be a cannoli, a toothpick, and water before getting the entree. Lucky was the woman who actually got a fork with her pasta and salad!

A mystery dinner is very fun, not just during the event, but for years to come as it is fondly recalled. Our members still remember and talk about this mystery dinner event.

When hosting your book club, why not match the genre with the activities and food of your gathering? The next time you read a mystery or other suspense novel, host a mystery dinner and treat your friends to a fun surprise.

Understanding Your Baby's Teeth

A large proportion of babies at around six months of age start to see their milk teeth emerge. By the age of 2 1/2 the majority of all 20 of your baby's first teeth would usually have appeared. Each tooth is constituted of two sections, the Crown, which is visible within the mouth, and the root, which secures the tooth into the jawbone, concealed by the gum. The coating of the tooth is made up from enamel. This provides a strong and robust protection for the Crown and also provides a strong plate for chewing. Given the enamel has not formed to its fall capacity during the early stages, the addition of calcium and other minerals are essential between six and 12 months to ensure it is strengthened.

The minerals required to strengthen the enamel are located within the saliva and plaque in your child's mouth and under ordinary circumstances will gradually accumulate upon the teeth. The problem is however that the calcium and phosphate contained within the compound of the enamel, regularly come under attack from harmful acids that are manufactured by the bacteria residing in plaque. The bacteria utilises carbohydrates to generate the acid. You will be aware of the need for your baby to consume carbohydrates and thereby increasing the acids which is fine. However, food and drink containing significant amounts of simple sugars such as sucrose and fructose, allows for the increased manufacture of these acids which can lead to damaged teeth.

Not only the quantities of sugar your baby consumes which affects your babies teeth, but also the frequency that he or she consumes sugary food and drink. Liquids consumed slowly or even sugary foods eaten over an extended period of time, ensure the sugar content of the mouth remains high thereby ensuring the calcium and phosphates are being removed for longer and less time is available to substitute them.

Generically speaking, the lower the sugar content of drinks and food the more beneficial they are for your teeth given it is the total sugar levels, and not just the added sugars which count. It is for this reason you should not add sugars to your infants food or drinks and why it is standard practice to dilute concentrated drinks and provide it to your baby in a training cup and not in a feeding bottle.

Tips on Giving Away Old Baby Clothes

Ever-engaged mothers eternally look for options to simplify their daily activities. It is not easy getting rid of outgrown clothes along with all of the other things your family, house, and job demands of you. An easy way of ridding yourself of baby clothes that your kids have outgrown organized is to use three boxes.

To begin with, it is of prime importance that the boxes are labeled, so that it is clear what should go in which box. It will help a lot to write something on the boxes that make them identifiable. Be sure to write the words "little Johnny's outgrown baby clothes" on them. One box should be labeled as "give away". Make sure you have the word "sell" written on a separate box. Now, on the final box, write the words "To be tossed". Use that throwaway box for your clothing items which cannot be fixed or have stains on them, but donate other clothing.

Those old baby clothes should be organized now! Go through the collection of clothes quickly. First instincts are mostly right anytime. Place each item in a logical box or bin. Check to see if the clothes are new and have not been worn. Consigning them to the "sell" list would be a fine option. If they are no longer going to be worn, but are still in decent shape, then these are the clothes for the "donation" box. Is that a big yogurt stain on that bib? Just put it directly into the '"to be tossed" box. Throw out the last box, putting it next to the trash and recycling bins. Instead of discarding away all those clothes to the garbage dump, it is quite likely that somebody might find them worth using and might pick up the box they are put in. They may even have a use for them for pets' bedding etc.

After the separating is finished, you should take the boxes or bins into the garage or car. If a certain person can utilize the "free" box, just bring it directly to them. If that isn't the case, then it's time for you and the box to take a trip down to your neighborhood thrift store. You should immediately begin trying to get rid of your "sell items" on web sites or trading spots in your area. There are consignment stores in some towns where you can sell your old baby clothes. Those stores have two options of either store credit or cash against clothes brought in by the moms. For trash day put the "throw away" box out at your curb. If you want to get rid of some items, place them into a box labeled "free" and it will soon be taken.

For most, this is not a big deal but for a few people, this can be very disappointing, traumatic and difficult to accept. In this article, we discuss the various possible reasons for gender disappointment.

The parents were sexually abused as a child - Those moms who have had an unfortunate experience on sexual abuse as a child may experience depression and anxiety in taking care of a boy - especially if the abuser was a male. Others, on the other hand, fear the anxiety of not being able to protect their daughter from a potential abuser; thus, not wanting to have a girl. It is believed that those who experience disappointment of having a boy, can lose the dilemma after the baby is born. On the other hand, those who are scared of giving birth to a girl usually feels okay while the baby is still inside the tummy but starts to feel anxious once the baby is born. Parents who experience this dilemma should keep in mind that it is impossible to be with your child all the time; however, we can do the best we can to protect our child while we are with them.

Some parents feel unable to connect to a specific gender - In some cases, mothers do not see themselves taking care of a baby girl or a baby boy. For instance, if the mother is not too feminine, one of her fears is not being able to impose femininity to her daughter. The same thing is true for single mothers who are about to give birth to a boy. They fear that will fail in raising a man.

They have had enough - Some parents couples who have had 3 boys would hope for a girl for their fourth born. The same thing is the case for couples who have had 3 girls. They have big hopes of finally making a girl. This situation can cause anger, huge disappointment, depression and sadness on the part of the parents.

Pressure from the family - Some couples are pressured by their parents or relatives to have a boy. This may have something to do with old family traditions and inheritance issues.

Regardless of your baby's gender, a newborn is a precious gift to you and your family. He deserves all the love and affection from the entire family. Prove to your baby that you are the best mother he could ever have by learning to accept him for who he is.

Use a Grow Tent to Improve Germination and Speed Plant Growth

If you are trying to start your own seeds, you might have discovered some of the challenges in this project. One issue that has to be dealt with is appropriate air and soil temperatures for germination to occur. The other is adequate light, and a third is sufficient moisture. If all of these areas are at suitable levels, you will have a better chance of your seed having a higher germination rate. If any of these three are missing or at too low a level, however, you will not get any germination from the seed at all. What many growers do to take the guesswork out of seed starting is to use a grow tent, also known as a grow closet.

Grow tents essentially work like a perfect little room especially suited to starting seeds. Better grow tents have a reflective inner lining, which helps to spread the light around the entire grow tent and plants held therein.

A great grow closet should feature a black-colored material for the outer layer. This is important, because black absorbs heat and helps to heat up the interior of the grow tent. Depending on the type of seed you are trying to germinate, it needs a particular soil and air temperature in order to achieve germination. You can find out specific temperature needs for seed germination from your local county extension office. Some seeds, such as peas, prefer a cooler temperature for germination, while others, such as tomatoes, eggplant, basil and sweet or hot peppers require much higher heat in order for germination to occur. You can place a thermometer inside your grow closet and make adjustments to the lights and grow heat mats in order to bring the internal temperature to exactly what your seeds need for optimal germination conditions.

Of course, the lining and exterior covering of a grow room tent need a frame from which to hang. You will want to find a grow tent that comes with heavy steel tubing for strength and durability. It is also easier to access the grow closet if it is made with heavy-duty zippers that will not snag and break easily.

Air circulation is also a consideration in a grow room tent. You will want to look for duct flanges and the ability to add an exhaust fan and filter to your unit, in order to provide appropriate air circulation to reduce soil-borne diseases that can rapidly spread in a moist, closed-off environment.

All of these features are available in the best-quality grow tent styles.

Beading Projects For Fun and Profit - Part III

One challenge faced by many hobbyists who want to turn their beading projects profitable lies in producing your designs in sufficient quantity to produce sustainable profits. This is especially true if your preference for beading projects runs to necklace/bracelet making, as these typically take longer to produce. This article will focus on things you can do to maximize your productivity, and thus, your profit potential.

The first, best thing you can do to boost your productivity is not to go overboard with the number of bead craft designs you want to offer. So many bead crafters want to undertake dozens of different beading projects in order to produce a staggering array of choices for their customers, and while that is commendable, it gets increasingly more difficult to stay organized, the more bead craft projects you have "on the table." Best to start with no more than 4-6 designs and slowly introduce more as your level of success increases.

From a pure production standpoint, if you're making necklaces and or bracelets, few things will help your speed more than a bead tray. At under ten dollars, this is simply a must have! It greatly simplifies the bead craft process as you can completely lay out all the materials for your beading project, double check to ensure everything is how you want it, and then it's literally as simple as picking up the already organized pieces and stringing them together.

If you have children and or an understanding, helpful spouse, these can be enlisted to assist with the production of your various beading projects. Even one "bead night" a week can dramatically enhance your total output.

Likewise, if you have a neighbor or friends who want to learn the art of bead craft, offer to teach them in exchange for a couple hours a week assisting with your for profit beading projects.

If you have an established line of profitable bead craft projects and you're finding it difficult to keep up with demand, you may want to consider putting feelers out for "contract beaders." As around to see if anyone might be interested in executing some bead craft projects for you in exchange for half the profits for the items they produce. If you find yourself balking at this idea, remember that Michelangelo didn't produce his vast body of work himself. He had dozens and often scores of apprentices working under him, and he would merely supervise the work. His vision, brought to life with the helping hands of others, and you can make use of that very same principle in your for profit bead craft projects.

There are a number of ways you can increase productivity when it comes to your bead craft projects. Some things you can do entirely on your own, but don't be afraid to ask for, or even pay for help if you find yourself unable to keep pace with demand. Remember, if your goal is to create a line of profitable bead craft projects and you find yourself in the position of having to seek help, this is a happy dilemma!

Starting a Home Herb Garden

Starting an herb garden is an exciting activity. Herbs have a rich history and have been referenced in many ancient documents, showing that herbs have been used by most household throughout history. Herbs are easily grown inside in containers or in an outdoor garden. Growing herbs has many benefits: as an addition to dishes to enhance flavor, to make tea, potpourri, or for medical purposes, and also to keep pests in check in outside gardens. There are a variety of herb gardens: for cooking, for medicine, ornamentals, or for multiple purposes.

Types of herb plants include, interestingly, shrubs and trees, as well as annual and perennial plants. A short explanation of these types: annual plants live for one year: they sprout, flower, and die in the same year. Perennial plants live for two years, meaning that after growing and blooming during spring and summer, they die back during fall and winter and return again in the spring.

A key to herb gardens is using soil with good drainage. For compacted or heavy soil types, adding some organic material is recommended. Fertilizers are typically not necessary. While a few herbs grow well in full shade, a sunny location is preferable, and a lot of herbs do just fine with afternoon shade. Interestingly enough, herbs are not often affected by insects or diseases, with a few exceptions: in hot and dry environments, red spider mites can be a pest for low-growing herbs. Anise, caraway, dill, and fennel may be attacked by aphids and mint can be affected by rust.

To grow an herb garden, use a small area in your garden, about 6 feet by 4 feet, which would produce enough for the needs of a small family. Using indoor planters for a home herb garden is also an option. Culinary herbs are a popular herb garden use, mainly to add enhanced flavor to a dish, while other herbs are used as great colorful garnish to plates or salads. Other herbs are grown for their beautiful flowers or the aroma of their foliage.

There are two ways to start an herb garden: from seeds or from seedlings. Growing a plant from seed is a great joy, seeing the process from the beginning to the end. The majority of herbs can be started from seed. Herbs are very useful and growing an herb plant from seed is a rewarding experience. Well-drained, light soil should be used to grow seeds in. Plant seeds in a shallow box or pot toward the end of winter. The seeds should not be covered with too much soil since they do not have a deep root base. A rule to follow is: sow fine seeds in shallow soil. In the springtime, the seedlings can be transplanted to the outdoor garden. Some herbs will not thrive if transplanted, such as fennel, coriander, dill and anise and should be planted directly in the garden.

A home herb garden is particularly worthwhile and it is easy to grow. Having a good understanding of herbs and a lot of plant growing information available is important. This article is a good start and now it's a good time to complete the journey with more information. You can find all of the knowledge you need here - enjoy!

You will find that there are tons of costume shops online, so finding a great costume will be a breeze. The first thing that you will want to do is decide if you want to buy, or if your want to hire your next vampire & vampire costumes.

Once you have decided that, you can then go on and find the store that either rent, or that sell vampire & vampire costumes. This should not be difficult if you know how to use a search engine like Google or Yahoo.

Once you have found a store or two, you will want to know what you are looking for. Now, finding out what the person you are buying for like is up to you. To start off with, find out what that person watches on TV, or what his or her favorite book or books are. This is a great way to get characters for your Halloween costume party.

Christmas season is a few months away and you can just see the long list of people that you have to buy gifts to. Although it is not all that hard to shop for gifts, the yuletide season makes it harder because of the added pressure of giving something that you have not given before. With Christmas rearing its cheery head every year, it is sometimes not surprising that you will run out of gift ideas for your loved ones.

And with everybody giving gifts during Christmas season, it is not uncommon to give something that your loved one already has. It may not even be surprising to give the same gift that another has given.

The quest for a unique gift this Christmas season can be really frustrating. Still, finding a gift that will really stand out is not impossible. Here are some tips that ca help you find the perfect gift that nobody will think of!

1. Make it yourself!

One way to make your gift really unique is to make it yourself! That way, you can be sure that your gift will be original. Gifts to people that are really close to you need not be the really expensive ones. You just have to think of something that they will really appreciate. Sometimes, the simplest gift can be memorable if it is well-thought of.

Examples of gifts that you can make yourself are scarves and sweaters that you can crochet, cards that you can draw, Christmas decorations especially tree trimmings that you can easily construct. There are hundreds of gifts that you can make. Just add some imagination, creativity and of course time.

2. Personalize it.

Giving something as mundane as a handkerchief or a T-shirt can be turned into something really unique if you choose to add some personal touches to it. For instance, with handkerchiefs, you can have it monogrammed while T-shirts can be dyed or colored and drawn with fabric paints that are available in art stores in the country.

If you do not have the time or the artistic ability to even attempt to personalize a gift, there are specialty shops in malls that can do that service for you. Another idea is to give a picture frame with a personalized photo of you together or a special picture that your receiver will appreciate. The key here is to remember something that has a special meaning for the person.
